People often say that the four years of college are best of your life and so far I definitely have to agree. However, it comes and goes in such a fast rate that you sometimes don't get the chance to do everything before you graduate. Most freshman come on to campus wide-eyed and eager, imagining all of the new experiences their time will hold.
Unfortunately, many students fail to step outside their comfort zone and stick to that same old routine.
But the whole experience is much more valuable when you push your limits, try new things, and do things you wouldn't ordinarily see yourself enjoying. So, I'm gonna hook you up. If you're a Rutgers student, here are some adventures that every Rutgers student must do before graduating. Be prepared, this is not the typical list like go to a football game, visit the historic section of campus, and blah blah blah. Instead, it reflects the actual nature of college and the things we are actually dying to try.
Take A Trip To Nature
Many Rutgers students aren't aware of the amazing nature they have. The Rutgers Gardens are right off Ryders Lane on Cook which are great for visiting and most of all, are free to visit. It is the perfect place for an adventure when you're tripping balls, because it has many different sections and is very big. These gardens include a water conservatory, different flower gardens, forest with trails, and even a bamboo forest. If you get a little scared wandering around nature, you can visit Buccleuch Park a few small trails, playgrounds and sports fields.
Drop A Bomb in the Underground Scene
Rutgers college has an amazing underground music scene that many people are not aware of. There are some main houses which constantly hold live shows and sometimes, the locations are hidden until last minute. But once you break onto this scene, you'll see some amazing bands. If you're really interested in music and seeing shows, then I'll encourage you to go as much as you can. Not only is it awesome, but you can feel every note of the music through your body. Most importantly, you are in New Brunswick and not in a club or concert, and also need not worry about getting home. It's the perfect way to spice up a boring basement party.
All Nighter in the City
With a location, located so conveniently by the train station, Manhattan night trips are a must-have for Rutgers students. Even more than going out to dinner or spending a day for shopping, all Rutgers students need to go crazy, wander the streets of city, miss the last train and sleep in some station at night. I know, it sounds a little dangerous and risky, but seriously some of the craziest adventures are must-have for every college student, as I've had in my life.
Fishbowl Races
Stuff Yer Face is one of the Rutger's legendary restaurants. With the world's best strombolis made from every topping under the sun to the dozens of beers, Stuff Yer Face offers everything. My favorite are their fishbowl drinks which are served in a giant pitcher. To make it even better, these fruity drinks are also over 80% pure alcohol. Although it is nice to sit outside and enjoy a fishbowl slowly, my favorite activity is fishbowl races. It can be done individually or in teams. The rest is self-explanatory, see who can finish theirs first and the next round is on the loser.
Say Yes to Drunken Rain Dance
This one brings me back to my childhood a little, but think for a while, what is more fun than doing something we used to do so innocently and add alcohol to it? Don't you think, it's what growing up is all about? My favorite of all is waiting for a weekend in the spring or fall when you know it's going to rain, getting completely wasted and running around playing and dancing in the rain. It may sound stupid, but seriously don't knock until you've tried it.
So, what to wait for? Get ready for these adventures! Five years from now, that will be something, you'll be talking about. Trust me!
