Welcome to the University Report Card Navigator
How it Works
Hello, and welcome to the University Report
Card Navigator.
This page will give you a short introduction and tour of the main screens and
functions of the Navigator.
We welcome your comments and suggestions on improving this and other aspects of
the University Report Card Navigator.
Users wanting more information in a general sense about the Navigator should
consult: The reasons why we created the Navigator
The Welcome Screen

Geographic filters and
Academic Programme filters
The first section allows users to pre-filter schools by geographic area, such as
region, province or city, as well as by academic programme.

Geographic filters are mutually exclusive; for example, choosing a province will
mean that you will not be able to then choose a region at the same time.
Academic programme definitions are taken from the Association of Universities
and Colleges of Canada (AUCC)1. Users may select any or none of
these filters.
Indicator
Selections
Immediately following the
Geographic and Academic filters section you are given a list of some 27
indicators, together with brief explanations as to what they mean.
To see these definitions, simply move your mouse over the (i).

You are allowed to select up to a maximum of five indicators, which gives a
total number of 6.3 million possible combinations.
The indicators themselves are grouped into 6 broad categories, comprising
-
Academic Quality
-
Campus Environment
-
Costs
-
Institutional Resources
-
Learning Environment
-
Research Quality
Users wanting more detail about
these indicators and the data underpinning them should click on the (i) for more
information.
Click Search
and you will be taken to the Results
page.
The Results Page
Your results are contained on this page. A basic explanation is provided, together with a summary of the selected geographic and academic filters you chose, if applicable, as well as the individual indicators you chose.

If you would like to re-sort institutions by a specific indicator, simply click on the number at the top of the coloured column.
Clicking on the hyperlinked
institution names on the left-hand side of the page will take you to some brief facts
about the institutions, such as their admissions policies, housing costs,
campus, activities, and so forth.
On the right-hand side of the page, only the institutions
that are your best match for your combination of indicators are given an info button/checkmark. Clicking on these checkmarks will enable
you to ask for that institution to contact you directly with further information
about itself. Again, your express permission is required before institutions can
contact you, and here we check a second time just to be sure. This feature is
not available for all 52 institutions.
Once you’ve completed a search, you conduct another search with different
indicators or filters by clicking on the Search Again button.
Enjoy!
